Abstract
9297. Courtman, R. S. April 12. Drawing.-Means for making a reservoir hub from a single piece are shown. The tubular cupshaped blank a, Fig. 1, stamped or drawn from sheet metal, has a wall-thickness equal to that of the end portions a<3>, a<4>, Fig. 6, of the finished hub. The middle part is lengthened and reduced in thickness by forcing the blank through dies b, Fig. 2, by means of mandrels c. These mandrels have reduced ends c<1> to allow the end a<4> of the blank to retain its original thickness. In reducing the thickness of the middle part the dies may be replaced by moulds or revolving dies or rollers.
