Abstract
11,750. Wotherspoon, J., and Davie, J. May 11. Filters for steam generators; cleansing.-Relates to filtering - apparatus in which the filtering-medium is capable of being compressed so as to squeeze out the matter separated from the water. In Fig. 1, the inlet to the purifier is shown at 3, and the outlet at 7. The plate 13 is drawn against the stationary plate 12 by means of the spindle 14, so as to compress the filtering- material, which is located between them, in the following manner :-A series of perforated discs a with bosses a<1> are threaded upon the central spindle, and form the inlets for the water to the filtering-material in contact therewith. These discs, when drawn together, slide telescopically into the perforated discs b, through which the filtered water enters the central space f communicating with the outlet 7. The inner periphery of the filtering-material is bounded by flexible shields d and by springs e which distend the shields and separate the plates a, b. Each filtering-section is composed of three strata, the first preferably consisting of materials suitable for arresting greasy matters, the second for arresting heavy or larger impurities, and the third for arresting more minute particles.
