Abstract

9929. Buck, G., and Torrey, E. S. April 20. Gas or explosive-vapour engines, carburetting in. Oil enters the carburetting-chamber c from the chamber a through a pipe d, and is maintained at a constant level by the pipe f, which acts on the bird-fountain principle. A number of wicks g dip into the liquid and form zig-zag passages for the air, which enters by the pipe h and escapes by the pipe j, chamber k, and pipe l. The pipes l, h and the feed-opening b to the reservoir a are provided with cages q having layers of wire gauze r, Fig. 3, to prevent explosion. When applied to a motor, a supplementary air valve n is mounted on the pipe l.
