Abstract
6479. Thornton, J. E. March 12. Cardboard boxes.-Relates to improvements on the invention described in Specification No. 17,092, A.D. 1895. The wire or flat metal strips B, Figs. 3, 6, and 10, which hold the flaps A bent, or which strengthen them, tend to unbend when the flap is creased or scored as ordinarily. To obviate this, the flap has two scores a, a', c, c<1>, Fig. 1, so that, when bent as in Fig. 3, the strip has no tendency to unbend. Or, in lieu of the double-scoring, the crease may be perforated under the strip as shown in Fig. 6. The same result may be accomplished by attaching the strip at one end to the flap, the other end being free as shown in Fig. 10.
