Abstract

6405. Lord, W. T. March 11. Punts; collapsable boats; frameless boats.-Boats are made with longitudinal and transverse joints, so that they can be rolled or folded up. Fig. 2 shows a plan of the boat, and Fig. 6 a section through a joint, in which A and B are wood layers separated by a flexible waterproof material C, while E, E are guard fillets. The transverse joints are indicated by the letter G in the plan, and when the boat is folded it occupies a small compass as indicated in edge view in Fig. 5. The bow and stern are formed by looping up the gusset pieces F in any convenient manner, and thwarts and other usual appliances are provided. A flat-bottomed boat is also illustrated.
