4320. Frankenburg, I. Feb. 17. Waterproof garments.-Relates to apparatus for applying rubber solution to the edges of fabric in making the seams. The roller C rotating in the solution supplies the distributing-roller D, which may be coated with felt &c. or may be a copper roller with an engraved surface. In the latter case, surplus material is removed by the doctor E pressed against the roller by the weight e<1>. The fabric is pressed against the roller D and carried over the table A by the roller F, which is rubbercoated or is milled or engraved to grip the fabric. The roller F may be raised by the treadle H, or it may be raised by a spring or weight and depressed by the treadle. The vessel B containing the rubber solution may be arranged above the table, in which case one or more additional conveying- rollers are necessary. The edges to be joined may be pressed together to form the seam by rollers suitably arranged.
