Abstract

3275. Rost, H. Feb. 8. Brewing; spirits.-The tun A has a central shaft a fixed at its upper end in a cross-piece b suspended at each end from brackets d<1> (one only shown) carried by rollers d running on a circular tract e around the tun A. From the cross-piece b there is suspended by means of the screwed rods f a conical chamber B with a fixed end i, and the other part is adapted to be revolved from the shaft a. The surface of the chamber B is covered with a sieve, and during its passage through the dense portions of the mash at the bottom of the tun it squeezes out the wort, which passes into the interior of the chamber and flows away through the pipe k and sieve c to the exit pipe r. Beaters D are suspended from the cross-piece b by screwed rods f<1>. The rods f, f<1> may be raised or lowered by the revolution of the shafts j, j<1>.
