147. Barbour, J., and Moody, S. Jan. 4. Rollers for drawing flax, hemp, jute, &c. The iron roller 2 is fitted with a wooden rim 1, to which the first layer of leather 3 is secured by cement and pegs. The outer layer of leather 4 is stretched over the inner layer, turned over the ends of the roller, being notched or cut so that it will lie uniformly on the roller, and secured by rings or washers 6, which are forced towards one another by screw bolts 5. The washers are shaped so that they will engage firmly with and t u r n upon the flange or part 8 of the roller.
