Thermorneters. - Means for facilitating the reading of thermometers comprise a scale plate a to which the thermometer d is attached bv clips e, the stem of the thermometer being in register with a slot c in the plate. Removablv attached to the plate is a backing plate j in which is formed a channel k the interior surface of which is silvered, the edges l of the plate j being inturned to act as guides for the plate a. The plate a is formed at one end with a flange a<1> in which is mounted a housing g for a lamp h which illuminates the thermometer stem. In a modification the housing g is mounted in an end plate formed on the plate j, the plate a being attached by clips &c. The thermometer is particularly intended for use in incubators, for which purpose three special graduations g, r, s are provided, the mark s indicating the normal working temperature and the marks g, r, temperatures which are respectively too low and too high.
