Abstract
189,341. Gems, J. F. Nov. 18, 1921. Lay-figure stands-The figure is divided vertically into four sections, each divided horizontally at the waist into two poitions which are hingedly connected. Adjustment of the waist can be effected, while the adjustable neck and lower portions are held fast, by means of a sliding sleeve 3, 22 on a central post. This sleeve operates spreaders 4 near the waist and hinged to the sections ; or a skeleton cone of flexible strips 3 is attached to the sleeve 22 and to a base 24 and passes through guiding-loops 21 on blocks 20 secured to the sections near the waist. A step 25 limits the descent of the base block 24, and a thumb-screw 26, 8 secures the sleeve in adjustment. The lower portions of each section are held adjusted by a slide member 9 and thumb catch. The neck is separately adjusted by spreaders 11 hinged to the neck sections and to a block 12 slidable on the central post and operated bv a screwed handle 15 on a screw-threaded portion of the post.
