Abstract

188,837. Jones, W. O. June 12, 1922. Reciprocating sieves.- Apparatus for sifting and grading materials consists of a series of sieves A - - F of successively finer mesh mounted in one side of a triangular frame 1, the second side of which is substantially vertical and which is pivotally mounted at a point 3 on the third side at a distance from the lowest apex and preferably in line with the centre of gravity of the structure. The oscillating device consists of an arm 13 on a shaft 14 rotated by a crank 17 and connecting rod 16 from the fly-wheel of a crusher 9, and a compressed spring 20 between the apex of the frame and the fixed support. Flexible tubes take the graded materials from each sieve to suitable bins, the large rejects being returned to the crusher by a pivotally mounted shoot a and the finest grade carried off of a. shoot 10. The sieves may be detachably secured and provided with means to adjust them to any angle.
