188,629. Keystone Oil & Manufacturing Co., (Assignees of Claflin, H. C.). Nov. 5, 1921, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Lubricants especially adapted for screw-cutting and like machines consist of a colloidal solution of sulphur in mineral oil, preferably 5 lb. of sulphur in 30 gal. of the product. It may be diluted with animal or vegetable oil or other liquid. In the preferred method of manufacture, 5 lb. of finely divided brimstone are mixed cold with 1 quart of "600‹ steam-refined " cylinder oil to a smooth paste in a vat 11, the paste is added gradually from a container 14 to 10 gal. of the same oil heated to above 195‹ C., preferably about 220‹ C., in a mixing kettle 15, and the mixture is run slowly into 20 gal. of cold paraffin oil of 34‹ BÚ in a water-jacketed mixer 19. The mixer 19 may be charged initially with several portions of paraffin oil and receive in succession the same number of charges from the kettle 15.
