Cabinets; portfolios; post files.-In a file for documents such as music sheets and letter folder, secondary index tabs are placed on the margins of the documents in positions corresponding with a primary index on the file parallel with the margins of the documents, so that a document need not be replaced in a particular position and can always be readily located. A contents index may be provided on a separate sheet. In a music-file comprising, for example, uprights 1 supporting a cross-bar 2 from which the music sheets are suspended by hooks 3, numbered index tabs 4 are attached to the backs of the music sheets and a primary index slip 6 at the margin is arranged to hang parallel with the backs of the sheets, a hooked arm 5 attached to the uprights 1 being provided for this purpose. The marginal index characters may be carried on cards which slide into grooves provided in the slip 6. The index is also applicable to documents in a tray or cabinet, or on a shelf.
