262. Halfpenny, G. W. Jan. 23. Ink; envelopes &c.-Incombustible ink for writing or printing on fireproof paper is made of graphite, copal or other resinous gum, iron sulphate, tincture of nutgall, and sulphate of indigo, mixed together and boiled in water. This ink is insoluble in water. Coloured inks are obtained by replacing the graphite by any mineral pigment in solution, with or with- out the gum. Envelopes or wrappers are made of incombustible board or paper, which is sometimes formed to contain slips or strips of talc.
