Casting-machines; moulds; strain, preventing. - Machines for casting metals that expand on solidification, particularly soft cast iron, have a series of four moulds E carried by guide bars D from a slowly rotating table B driven by gearing from an electric motor. The moulds have special clamping and ejecting mechanism operated by the fixed cams H, J as regards the mould parts and by the cams H<2>, N, P, as regards the ejectors. The moulds are held clamped by springs G so that expansion of the casting on solidification is permitted. The pressure of the springs is regulated by adjusting the position of the cross-heads D<3> and the inward movement of the mould parts E<2> is limited bv bolts G<2>. The mould parts E are carried by brachets sliding on the bars D and carrying rollers K for engagement by the cams. Ejectors M are resiliently connected to slides L on the brackets provided with rollers L<3> to engage the cams H<2>, N. The ejectors O<2> are resiliently mounted on the crossheads D<3> and come into action on the mould parts E<2> being forced outwards by the cam P. An aperture A<4> passes the discharged castings to a receptacle or conveyer. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) stated that the metal casting machines described above could also be employed for casting other substances that expand on solidification. This statement does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
