Abstract
181,338. Schwartz, H. A. June 8, 1921, [Convention date]. Moulds; castings.-A mould for casting metal is maintained within a constant range of temperature. The mould 1, which may be of the same metal as that cast, has hollow walls 5, through which fluid is circulated by a pump 7. The flow is regulated by valves 11, 12, 13 and the temperature of the fluid introduced is kept constant by a cooler 14. By these means the rate of cooling of the casting 4 may be increased considerably, slightly or not at all for, such times as are required to give the required result. The moulds are provided with ejectors 23 held in retracted position by springs 22. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that the casting is finally ejected into asbestos powder to prevent oxidation.
