Abstract

186,161. Hyde, C. F. June 22, 1921. Mashing-processes.-The coarse meal and grits obtained by crushing malt for brewing purposes are separated from the fine meal, and are mashed to render the starch soluble, after which the mash may be used as mashing-liquor for the remainder of the ground malt, or the latter may be doughed into it. The ground malt, issuing from the mill 3, falls on a sifter 4, through which the fine meal passes to a hopper 5, and the coarse meal and grits to a hopper 6. The husks with adhering grits pass to another mill 7, ana therefrom to a sifter 8, through which the grits pass to the hopper 6, the husks passing over the sifter to the hopper 5. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 13838/06.
