Protective systems comprise electromagnetically closed main switches 10, 11 opened by the action of overload relays 21, 22 and retained open by additional relays 23, 24 having their coils connected across the terminals of the main switches. The main switches are kept open until all the protected machines 16, 17, 18 are locally cut-out or have sufficient resistance inserted in series.
