Abstract
185,573. Saleck, R. July 12, 1921. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). String cutters.-An apparatus for cutting predetermined lengths of string in bundles comprises a base plate a, Figs. 1 and 2, carrying a fixed post b and a second post i which may be inserted in any of a number of tapered holes h in the base plate marked with figurea to indicate the length of string to be cut. The free end is inserted under a spring n on the post i, and the string is carried down a groove l in this post, across to the post b where it is clipped in a V-slot g in an angle iron f, around the two posts the desired number of times and finally to a slot g in a second angle iron f on the post b. A knife d pivoted within the post b is then brought down so as to cut the bundle of string. In a modification, a second movable post i<1> is introduced in order that longer lengths of string may be wound without increasing the length of the apparatus. The piece of string from the first slot g to the free end is tied round the bundle before the cutting operation to keep the lengths together.
