Associated counters, trip and total and like; counters of scoring type with alarms; overthrowpreventing mechanism; stop mechanism; numeral-bearing elements.-A device of the scoring-type for indicating the total and sub-total of a number of operations has a special combination of locking and overthrow-preventing parts. Upon longitudinal movement of a tappet 1, Fig. 5, a star-wheel 4 is actuated by a projection 8 on a lever 3 which also carries a detent 10 normally locking the star-wheel, overthrow being prevented by a spring-pressed lever 12 which enters between the teeth of the wheel during actuation, and correct positioning being ensured by means of an inclined face 24 on the detent 10, and a spring pawl 18. A projection 70, Fig. 18<a>, on the actuating-lever 3 engages a detent 68 pivoted in the boss 63 carrying the striker 60 of a gong 61, so that the gong is sounded on the return movement of the lever. The total is indicated through apertures in a dial B by numeral discs, the unit disc 45, Fig. 22, on the star-wheel shaft indicating units and fractions through apertures 46, 46a, and transfer being of the single-tooth type. The star-wheel also actuates a sub-total indicating pointer 32 which moves over a scale on the dial B through a gearwheel 28, Fig. 14, carrying a pawl 34 in engagement with a ratchet 33 on the pointer shaft, to allow zeroizing. A zero stop 72, Fig. 20, on the dial has upper and lower stop-faces 73, 74 on opposite sides thereof, with an inclined guide 75 to the lower face; the pointer 32 may be flexible so that it may be deflected by the guide 75, or the stop may be movable longitudinally against a spring.
