Abstract

185,522. Thiele, E. W. June 10, 1921. Cylinder machines ; rotary-mould-table machines.-In a machine for moulding blocks of plastic material, and having moulds arranged at the circumference of a drum 5, with horizontal pairs of plungers 20 actuated successively by stationary cams 27, the moulds are divided by a plate 9, thereby providing a separate chamber for each plunger. Radially moving ejectors 10 actuated by cams are provided for each pair of moulds. The material is fed from a hopper 22 into open cavities or moulds 8 of the drum which continuously rotates and these cavities are closed during the pressing operation by a shutter 17 which is rotated through a quarter of a revolution by projections on the plungers contacting, with projections 25 on the rod 18 of the shutter. The pressing operation being completed the shutter is released and is returned by the counterweight 21. A fixed cam 15 then operates the base of the mould to eject the finished block into an enlargement 30 of the casing and thence through an aperture on to a conveyer belt whence they are conveyed to the kiln.
