Abstract

184,866. Craig, A. May 19, 1921. Hair - curling appliances.-A cylinder 34, Fig. 10, is fitted with inlet and outlet pipes 36, 36<A>, for steam or other fluid which presses the rubber lining 35, bound over the edges of the cylinder against the hair coiled on the rod 22A. An insulating covering 44 is provided. Several of these cylinders are supported on a stand by clips and cords attached to the cap 40. The pipes 86, 36A of adjoining cylinders are coupled by rubber tubing supported by internal coils of wire. Cool air or liquid is drawn through the ring 26, placed below the cylinder 34, by the inlet 29 and the piping 27, 28 leading to an exhaust pump &c. The ring 26 is covered by a rubber or other insulating pad 30. The hair is wound on the rod 22A by a combing and tensioning device, Fig. 4, comprising two wooden pieces 14, 15, rubber compression pads 18, 25, and combs 23 pressed together by a screw 21 in the frame 16,. 19, 20, displacement of the parts being prevented by the stops 17, 24.
