Abstract
184,861. Marks, E. C. R., (Standard Elevator Interlock Co.). May 18, 1921. Lift cages and doors, locking and unlocking and operating.-In lift systems in which a landing door is unlocked only when the lift is stopped at that floor and the control mechanism of the lift is locked in neutral position while the door is unlocked, the door is locked by a member which is reciprocated by the opening and closing of the door and retained in the locking position by a latch member released by means on the lift. The locking-mechanism can be used with horizontally or vertically sliding doors, and with various forms of lift control mechanism, and is described as applied to an horizontally sliding door and lift controlled by a switch. The end of a bar 31, Fig. 10, attached to a horizontally sliding door engages a fork 28, Fig. 5, on one end of a lever 25 pivoted to a base plate 1 mounted in the well near the landing. The other end 23 of the lever is forked and receives a pin 22 mounted in ears 21 on a channel member 17 attached to plates 13 which are slidably mounted on the plate 1. A latch bar 4 is mounted on a pin 5 so as to have a limited vertical movement as well as a rotary movement. As the bar descends, the pin is moved away from the baseplate by contact with a lug 6 having a bevelled face and obstructs the movement of the member 17. The bar 4 may rest either in the angle between the side 16, Fig. 8, and block 20 or in the angle between the block and the side 18, these positions corresponding to a partially closed and entirety closed position of the door, respeotively. An arm 38 pivoted to the underside of the lift C has a fork 40 projecting from one side and a roller 41 mounted on the other. The arm 38 is connected by link-work to the switch arm. When the door is open, the fork 40 embraces the side 18 of the member 17 and thus actuation of the switch is prevented. When the switch is actuated to stop the lift, the roller 41 forces the latch bar 4 towards the base plate and releases the member 17.
