Abstract

Resinous products are obtained by condensation of formaldehyde with the monohydric phenols boiling at 230-320 DEG C. obtained from the tar oils produced by low-temperature distillation of coal; the usual condensing-agents such as ammonia, caustic soda, or acids, are employed. The products are soluble in cold benzene. Specification 24426/13, [Class 55 (i), Coking &c.], is referred to.
