Packeting by wrapping-up. - A wrapping- machine more particularly for wrapping short strips of insulation such as paper round the sides of armature coils comprises a reciprocating member 8 formed with a groove 9 into which cement covered paper 20 is pressed by the side 52 of the coil, a plate 36 which folds over the loose end 20<a> of the paper when the head 8 moves under it, and a cutter 18 which severs the paper and presses it down on to the coil when the head 8 moves in the opposite direction. By means of a. lever 5 and link 7 the head 8 is raised in each of its end positions so as to press the paper on to the coil. The head 8 is secured to plate 38 which support cross rods 40, 41 on which are mounted a plate 44 and a finger 43 which is pressed against the plate 44 by a spring 45. The finger 43 is preferably formed with teeth at its front end to enter small holes in the plate 44. The paper 20 is fed forward with the plate 44 when the reciproeating member 8 moves forward. Pins on the finger 43 engage with spring plates to raise the finger 43 out of engagement with the plate 44 so that the paper 20 remains in position when the member 8 moves backwards. A stationary plate 16 on which the plate 44 rests is provided with side plates 24 which support the springs 26 and a rod 28 on which a sheet-metal holder 31 for the moistening pad 22 is mounted. A spring 34 holds the pad 22 against the paper which is coated with mucilage or other cement. The head 8 may be reciprocated by hand, a rod 10 being provided for the purpose, or it may be actuated from the mechanism actuating the lever 5. Adjustable stops 13 are provided for limiting the movement of the head 8.
