Mechanical dispatch apparatus. - In serving apparatus for dining rooms, the tables 2 are pro. vided with delivery and return conveyers 7, 10 from and to the kitchen respectively under the control of the patron, cashier, and kitchen attendant, conveyers 16 for conveying the patron's order check to the kitchen 5, and a conveyer 15 for transmitting a duplicate check from the kitchen to the cashier's desk 4. The several conveyers are driven by means of loose pulleys adapted to be clutched by a shaft 18 driven by a motor 29, the clutch being released from the shaft 18 against the action of springs 25 by solenoid magnets 26. The desk 4, kitchen 5 and each table 2 are provided with switches 31, 32 connected in circuits 33, 34 which govern the solenoids of the conveyers 7, 10 respectively, while the conveyers 15, 16 have their control circuits operated by switches 35, 37 both at the desk 4 and kitchen 5. The motor circuit 46 is also provided with a switch 47 in the cashier's desk and kitchen for stopping the entire system. In order to indicate to a patron when his order is ready and placed on the delivery conveyer, a signal 43 is provided on each table operable within the kitchen. When the tray on the conveyer reaches the patron, he operates the switch 31 to stop the conveyer and after removing the tray, operates it again to start the conveyer. The switch, however, is arranged to be automatically operated when the tray is placed upon the table. The trays may be provided with a. stop to engage another stop at any particular table, and with guard bridges to push open the flap doors between the dining room and the kitchen and protect the contents of the trays from the doors.
