Abstract
361,618. Restaurant systems. DASCHNER, J. F., Warren Hotel, Worcester, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Nov. 24, 1930, No. 35357. [Class 116.] In a restaurant system, meals are supplied to tables 15, Figs. 1 and 4, on service lifts 27 passing through the tables, the orders being passed to the kitchen through tubes 39, 40 disposed in the tables. When an order is inserted, a flap is moved to close an indicator circuit to warn a kitchen attendant; the meal is then placed upon the removable shelves 33, 34, 35 of the lift 27, which normally lies in the bottom of the well 16, and a switch 69 is operated by the attendant to gear the driving shaft of the lift winch to the constantly rotating main shaft 54. Each lift runs on rails 30 and is formed with posts 28 which enter recesses in a portion 17 of the table. In the uppermost position of the lift a plate S3 thereon bridges contacts 92, 93 on a slidable latch 84 to energize a solenoid 94 which then withdraws the operating member of the switch 69 to stop the lift, which is lowered under its own weight when the latch 84 is withdrawn, a strap brake operated by a governor preventing too rapid a descent.
