Abstract
182,020. Bethell, T. F. Aug. 9, 1921. Packing eggs; unpacking.-Relates to frames, for packing eggs in boxes, of the kind described in Specification 6248/06. According to the invention, the blank of which the trough-shaped member is formed is incised at Aa, Fig. 1, so that flaps A may overlap and may be interlocked in that position when the blank is formed into a trough. Blanks, as shown in Fig. 2, interlock with slots B, Fig. 1, to form the cross partitions. The made-up frame may be surrounded by blanks which have flanges to turn under the bottom and may have upper flanges by which the device may be lifted from the box. The latter flanges may be scalloped to avoid contact with the eggs. The trays may be made of half the depth shown, and two may be used to enclose one layer of eggs, the upper one being inverted. A tray, formed of a number of perforated strips G, Fig. 9, with flanges H, may be used to protect the top layer of eggs from the top of the box, the whole being enclosed by a frame K. This device may be used to unpack the contents of the box, the frame and the upper tray being removed together and inverted, the eggs then resting in the perforations in the strips G.
