Rails, metallic built-up.-A tramway rail has a base part A with an upper trough A<1> formed with inclined sides to receive a tread part B, the parts being connected by bolts or studs C secured by a stem C<1> to the tread and projecting down at C<2> centrally of and into a hole F in the web of the base and fitted with a washer D and nut E. Ledges or shelves G<2> may be formed in the trough A<1> to receive corresponding parts on the tread B.
