Abstract

Flexible shafts for use in flexible or rigid tubing in driving speedometers, dynamos, dental engines, horse-clippers, sheep-shearers, portable drills, revolution-indicators, &c., are built up of links A, preferably stamped from sheet metal, with enlarged rounded ends E and bent to U-shape, consecutive links being arranged at right-angles and connected by rivets B also at right-angles, the rivet heads being rounded off as shown in Fig. 5 so that the chain will fit within a cylindrical tube. The spaces F between the rivets and the adjacent ends E may be filled with lubricant.
