Abstract

181,147. Hayward, W. March 21, 1921. Moulds; flasks.-The top plate of a moulding- flask is provided with a row of pins 7 or ribs to hold a layer of refractory material 8 which is put on plastic and hardened by baking. Holes are made in the plate with tubular sockets (not shown) to take the pouring gates, and a flange 6 is provided to fix the plate to the sides of the flask. As shown the plate is curved and forms one side of a mould for ribbed tunnel sections; the plate however may be flat.
