177,025. Smith, R. H. Feb. 24, 1921. Moulds; pressing-plungers.-The bottom or indent-plate of a mould box, in which perforated bricks &c. are formed, is provided with cushioning-means for the ends of the perforating-pegs to ensure " all-through " holes being formed and to prevent damage to the apparatus. The movable bottom a<2> of a mould-box a has an indentplate c to form a recess in the under face of the brick, and a plunger-plate e provided with rigid perforating-pegs. The surface of the plate c is formed of a part c<5> having sinkings c<3> containing cushioning-devices c<2> such as blocks of rubber, spring-pressed pistons, &c. During the pressing of a brick the webs of clay, which cannot flow into the body of the brick, and which are carried forward by the lower ends of the pegs f, are displaced into the sinkings c<3>.
