Abstract
180,846. Hughes, W. April 14, 1921. Vaporizing by combustion; vapours, delivering.-In a plant for producing gases for fire-extinguishing or fumigating, of the type comprising a furnace, cooler, and scrubber, the furnace 1, which is provided with a water-jacket 9, has an upwardly-projecting take-off pipe 5 also provided with a water-jacket 11. The gas passes from the pipe 5 into horizontal sinuous cooling-pipes 16 of a cooler 2 of the water-circulation type, and thence through a pipe 6 into the lower end of a scrubber 3, which is provided near the top with both a perforated water-ring 18 and a central watersprinkler 19. Air is fed to the furnace through two downwardly-converging pipes 12 leading into a box 13 and thence through the interior of the bed 4 to the furnace grate 14.
