Abstract

180,395. Diepschlag, E. Feb. 11, 1921. Blast, composition of.-In a blast furnace in which the working is controlled by feeding regulated quantities of finely powdered fuel, ore, furnace dust, &c. to the smelting-zone, the material is delivered directly to the blast nozzles under static pressure. As shown the exhaust gases are cleared in a separator m and the dust is fed to a hopper e connected to the blast nozzle d by a feed pipe f, the hopper being arranged at such a level that the pressure due to the heat of material is sufficient to overcome the internal pressure of the furnace.
