Fire - extinguishing by pulverulent material.-Relates to detail improvements in the fire-extinguisher described in the parent Specification, wherein a fire - extinguishing powder is discharged by means of compressed gas. The cover 11 is secured by fastenings of the bayonet type comprising studs 17 fixed to the top of the container and engaging key-hole slots in the cover 11, which is rotated to engage the studs with the narrow parts of the slots. The studs 17 also secure the upper outturned ends of the strips 4 forming the cage for the gas-bottle 3 The cover 11 is provided with an upturned roughened operating-rim 14, and partly covers the safety valve. The rotary key 8 for releasing the gas has a cross-pin 9 engaging a vertical slot in the cylindrical head 6 of the gas valve. Pins 5 on the bottle 3 prevent it from rotating by engaging the strips 4 of the cage. The bottom 25 of the container is hemispherical, and is provided with a cavity 26 in which is located the discharge nozzle 2, which is normally closed by a cap 28, held in position by a side spring 29 and adapted to be blown aside when the powder is discharged. The string of a seal is passed through holes in the hand-wheel 9<1>, the rim 14 of the cover, and a projection on the container, such as the spindle of the safety valve.
