Abstract
179,630. France, A. Feb. 7, 1921. Upward-current classifiers; wet-separating. - Relates to means for washing and separating fine minerals of the kind described in Specifications 22655/12 and 142,729 wherein the minerals are passed with a stream of water along a trough from which depend a number of sorting pockets. The latter, or some of them, are now made to contain columns of still liquid of high specific gravity. In the form shown, the materials from a hopper 1 and water from a vessel 4 are passed along a trough 3, and the vessels 6 are supplied with heavy liquid from a vessel 17 through pipes 18. The heavy liquid mav be a suspension in water of the mud that collects from the material treated, or may be a solution of calcium chloride or potassium carbonate. In a modification, upward currents of muddv water are maintained in the first three of six vessels 6, and still muddy water in the other three. Specification 153,983 also is referred to.
