Stream-cutting machines. -A machine for cutting noodles, wherein a strip of dough is forwaried on a belt to feed-rolls and thereafter to a knife is arranged so that the belt, corrugated feedrolls, and knife are all intermittently operated. The machine comprises a powershaft cylinder 5 supported on a clamp 1, which has mounted thereon a housing 6 with a rearward extension 7. The housing has, pivoted on a shaft 9, a twc-part cover 8, 10, the parts of which are connected by a hinge 11. A hand-operated shaft 17 journaled in the cylinder 5 has an eccentric 24, which is connected by a rod 32 to an arm 30 on a shaft 28, and a camcylinder 26, with which engages one end of a lever 79. An arm 40 on the shaft 28 has an adjustably slidable block 41 thereon, to which is pivoted a pawl 43 engaging a ratchet-wheel 39. Intermittent rotation is thereby communicated to the wheel 39, which is prevented from retrograde motion by an escapement 46. The wheel 39 is mounted on a shaft 37 carrying the lower of a pair of feedrolls and a bevel-wheel 38 engaging a bevelwheel 51 on a vertical shaft 48, which has splined thereon another bevel-wheel 56 having a collar with a groove 56<1>. The upper feed-roll is mounted on a shaft slidable in slots 48<1>, which shaft has a bevel-wheel 55 engaging the wheel 56, and the end of the shaft engages the groove 56<1>. The dough strip rests on a belt 60, which is chain-driven :rom the shaft 37 and is thus fed intermittently between the rolls and thence passes under a shoe having a flat bottom 66 and sides 67 pivoted on the shaft of the upper roll. Swinging movement of the shoe is guided by a rod 69 pivoted at 70 and slidable in a bearing 71. Spring fingers 72 keep the shoe in resilient contact with the dough. The lever 79 has arcuate rack-teeth engaging a toothed segment 83 on a shaft 76 carrying an arm 78, to which is attached a blade 84 for cutting the dough into narrow strips. The strips fall into a detachable trough 14. A handle 59 serve to rotate the shaft 9 and, by means of slotted arms 58 thereon, which engage the shaft of the upper roller, to raise the upper roller and the shoe.
