Abstract

179,601. Cornish, A. H., Saunders, H. S., and Petters, Ltd. Feb. 2, 1921. Lighting and heating systems. -A switching system for a supply system comprising a dynamoelectric machine, adapted to operate as a starting-motor, a battery, and a load circuit is arranged to connect the dynamo to a portion of'the battery and the load circuit in parallel, to connect the dynamo across the whole of the battery and the load circuit across a portion of the battery, and to connect the load circuit across the whole of the batterv when the latter is not on charge. A dynamo-electric machine a, Fig. 1, adapted to operate as a starting-motor when the switch m is closed, is connected to a portion of the battery b and the load c through a switch r when running as a dynamo, when the arm 7, Fig. 2, is moved to position A, and the switches p, q are closed. When the switch-arm 7 is placed in position H the whole of the battery b is placed across the dynamo and the load c is placed across a portion of the battery. In the position C of the arm 7 the dynamo a is disconnected and the load c is placed across the whole of the battery. The charging-circuit of the battery is completed through a coil p, Figs. 1 and 2, so that when the dynamo is running an armature 6 is moved into the path of the arm 7 to prevent the latter from being moved into the position C.
