Abstract

178,254. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (General Electric Co.). Feb. 15, 1921. Thermal switches.-A photo-sensitive switch, applicable for illuminating buoys at night, comprises a pair of bi-metallic strips 11, 12 one having a polished surface and the other blackened, contacts 13 on the strips being brought into engagemen when the apparatus is exposed to light, owing to unequal heating of the strips. Closure of the contacts energizes the device 17. The strips are carried on brackets on an insulating base 14 and are adjustable by screws 15.
