Sheet-smoothers.-A device for flattening out the creases in paper immediately before reaching the pens of a ruling- machine comprises a roller f carried in bearings at either side of the pen cloth g, the weight of the roller being supported by the pen cloth. The bearings are formed of pivotal arms d with openended slots which receive the ends of the roller. The arms d are made adjustable towards and from the pens by mounting them on pivots c which are adjustable in slots h of brackets a secured to the side frames b of the machine.
