Fluid-actuated gears; valve chests and casings. -A motor for operating sand-riddling machinery &c. has a fluid-actuated valve 7 working between faces containing ports 8, 8<a>, 9, 9<a> communicating with the fluid-supply and the cylinder end ports 2, 2<a> respectively. The cylinder exhausts through piston-controlled ports 3. The valve 7 is reciprocated by the fluid-pressure when the exhaust ports are opened. The stroke of the piston is increased by reducing the compression by means of auxiliary exhaust passages 11, 11<a> communicating with the ports 2, 2<a> and controlled by a groove 10 in the valve 7. The valve-chest is built up of superimposed blocks 13 - - 16 secured by studs.
