Washing - machines with rocking or swing- ing receptacles of the type having an oscillating tub 6 with a radial downwardly - extending perforated partition 14 secured to a central longitudinal shaft 10 fixed to the tub, have the lower edge of the partition spaced from the bottom of the tub to afford an opening 16 for sediment. A right-angled drain valve (not shown) is situated under the partition and controlled from a handle extending across one of the ends of the tub.
