Abstract

Work companions.- A pincushion shaped to resemble a head and adapted to be suspended by a pigtail 9, Fig. 3, formed of threads which may be detached as required for use, has disposed in a casing in its interior a spring controlled reel on which is would a tape measure 18. The free end of the tape measure is provided with a stop fashioned to represent the tongue of the mouth of the head through which the tape measure is withdrawn. A bellows adapted when compressed to emit a whistling sound is arranged within the head and is actuated by a cam 34 mounted on the reel. A container 13 for needles &c. closed by a cap 14 is arranged in the head below the reel. In a modified construction shown in Fig. 6, the tape measure is omitted, the pincushion containing a box 9<1> closed at the lower end of a bottom 10<1> adapted to contain papers'of needles. The pigtail, which consists of coarse and fine threads braided together, is attached to a cover 8<1> which projects in to the box. The fine threads 17<1> are passed through the cover and project downwardly to represent a fringe of hair.
