Abstract
175,782. Davis, R. H. Nov. 30, 1920. Respiration, appliances for promoting.-Oxygen is administered to a patient by surrounding him with a collapsable chamber which is supplied with the gas and is provided with inspection windows. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the chamber is sufficiently large to accommodate the bed and is constructed of air-proof fabric supported on a collapsable framework. Windows k of celluloid are disposed at each end, and an extension o of the chamber may be fitted with roller blinds or shutters q, r to serve as an air-lock for the entrance and exit of attendants. In the modification shown in Fig 3 for adaptation to a bedstead, the chamber is in the form of a hood supported on hinged frames and having its sides extended to enable the fabric to be tucked beneath the bedclothes. Windows are placed at w, x and the front of the chamber may be turned back to give access to the patient. A fan for circulating air to and from the chamber may be provided, and the air pipe may be combined with the oxygensupply pipe and arranged so as to blow upon the patient's face.
