[Class 81 (ii).] A head-rest in the form of a cushion, pillow, or similar object for one or more persons has its upper side or portions thereof, permeable to air, while the other sides are impermeable, and is fitted with a device for admitting air. A pillow or the like 1 is supplied with air by a variable-speed fan 3. The air may be passed through devices 4, where it is treated, for example dried, oxygenated, or medicated, and the volume admitted to the pillow 1 is regulated by a member 5. The pillow comprises a frame with a covering 16 of impermeable fabric, the upper surface having orifices 11, 12 adjacent the nose of the recumbent patient and fitted with fine metallic cloth 13. An openmesh cover 14 is secured over the upper wall by press studs 15. The upper wall may be composed wholly of metallic net covered with permeable cloth, and the other walls of wood, for example.
