Abstract

175,744. Edwards, F. W. Nov. 19, 1920. Roller apparatus. - A machine for continuously mixing liquid with powdered materials comprises a feed roller which applies liquid to the surface of a roller, a hopper for feeding powder on to the moistened surface of the roller, scrapers for removing the mixture from the surface of the roller, and a worm conveyer for removing the mixture from the machine. A trough E receives liquid from a supply-tank C, and a roller, D, dipping in the trough, applies liquid to the surface of a roller F<1>, the two rolls rotating in contact with one another. The powdered material is stored in a hopper A, and a discharging-device at the outlet B feeds powder on to the moistened surface of the roller F<1>. The mixture is removed from the surface of the roller by a scraper H, which forms one side of the casing of a worm-conveyer G. Two or more rollers in contact with one another may be used, the successive rollers being rotated at increasing speeds so that there is relative movement between their surfaces. The rollers are kept in contact with one another by springs.
