Abstract

313,817. Haddan, R., (Heyl-Beringer Farbenfabriken Akt.-Ges.). Sept. 5, 1928. Film evaporators.-In a desiccator of the internally heated drum type, a feed roller 8 supplies liquid to a contact roller 7 which transfers it to a drum 2. The rollers 7, 8 are fitted by stuffing boxes 17 in a liquid container 9 pivoted about bolts 10, so that the pressure of the roller 7 on the drum 2 can be varied. The roller 8 is made longer than the roller 7 to assist in the removal of excess liquid from the latter. Definite and reproducible drying conditions are obtained by use of a steam pressure regulating valve 23 and a change speed gear 19 in the drive to the drum. Scraping knives 13 are arranged in overlapping formation to avoid leaving ridges of dried material on the drum.
