Abstract

174,764. Cammack, R. A. Nov. 6, 1920. Preparing surfaces; treating after deposition.- A copper or other metal plate is prepared for mezzotint or similar engraving by first covering it with a finely powdered insulating substance such as resin, leaving minute spaces of exposed metal between the particles, fixing the particles. by heating the plate, then depositing metal electrolytically on the exposed surface so as to produce a raised grain, and finally removing the insulating substance.
