Abstract

174,353. Fetters, C. A. Jan. 21, 1921, [Convention date]. Folding cases; cases designed to be of variable capacity; fittings, internal; fittings, external; battens, strengthening.-A collapsable suit-case is formed of pliable material and comprises a back 1 with top and bottom extensions 7, 7<a>, end extensions 2 and front flaps 9, 9<a>. The parts 7, 7a are reinforced with fixed stiffening-boards 8, and the ends have pockets 3 provided with removable stiffening-boards 4. The ends also have extensions 6 which, when the case is closed, engage upon the top of the articles within and flaps 5 which prevent entrance of dust &c. at the corners of the case. Extensible pliable sections 15 may be carried by the outer longitudinal edges of the part 2 so as to allow extra clothing to be carried in the case and prevent entrance of dust &c. The parts 9, 9<a> have snap fastenings 12<a> engaging parts 12 on the extensions 6, and after the case is filled they are secured by snap fastenings 10. The case is finally secured by straps 16 and the top section 7 has straps 17 provided with snap hooks 18 by which the case can be supported from the roperail or top of an automobile. In its collapsed form, the case is rolled up with the boards 4 inside.
