Abstract

Ground levers, flush with the roadway, have an adjustable spring 5 connected to a straight crank 3 which operates the points, and a handle operatively connected to the crank 3 at its pivot so as to move circumferentially with it when operated. The handle engages a headpiece 7 which may be separate from or integral with the crank 3. In the former case, Figs. 1 and 4, stops 10, 11 on each allow limited relative movement so as to provide a still handle when trailing through; the handle 13 can be provided with cross pins 15, Fig. 4, and, when not in use, be slid through the casing 1 into a tube or container in the ground, or it can be provided with a hinge 12, Fig. 1, secured in the top of the head-piece, bevels being cut in the casing lid 2 or cast on the frame to guide the handle into a recess. In the latter case, Fig. 3, the crank has a socket 16 to receive a detachable lever or handle.
